John Lewis Watford hosts tea party for Age UK

John Lewis Watford and Age UK Hertfordshire teamed up with the Clitheroe Club, South Oxhey to host a tea party for 25 local elderly residents in the Place to Eat restaurant in the shop.

The activity is part of a broader national partnership between John Lewis and Age UK to drive awareness and support for lonely older people which followed on from the John Lewis’s Man On The Moon Christmas advert.

Several partners (staff) from John Lewis Watford spent the afternoon talking to and enjoying the company of members of the club whilst serving afternoon tea.

Partners have also been fundraising through cake sales, raffles, tombolas and pop-up sales. This has raised enough funds to purchase a TV that will be used in the Clitheroe Club. An additional donation of £1000 was also given from the Business Community Investment Fund.

Jonathan Field, Head of Branch at John Lewis Watford said, “We are delighted to be supporting Age UK Hertfordshire. Partners have been really engaged with raising funds and it was a delight to host a tea party for the members.”

Pearl Robson, Community Liaison Co-ordinator said, “It was hugely rewarding to meet some of the centre’s members and spend time talking to them whilst offering a cup of tea too.”

Kerry James Project Lead, Age UK Hertfordshire said, “The support we have received from Pearl and her team has been wonderful and will make a big difference at the Clitheroe Centre.”
